Fig jam with orange combines the natural sweetness of juicy figs with the refreshing aroma of orange. This delicious jam will enrich your breakfast or snack, and its harmonious blend of sweetness and citrus freshness will delight your palate. It’s also an excellent ingredient for various desserts and glazes.
Ingredients for fig jam with orange
- 1 kg fresh figs
- 2 oranges
- 500 g sugar
- 1 lemon (juice)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
1Remove the stems from the figs and cut them into small pieces. Wash and peel the oranges, then cut them into small pieces and remove the seeds.
2In a large pot combine the chopped figs, oranges and sugar. Add vanilla extract if desired and the juice of one lemon. Mix everything well.
3Place the pot on the stove and heat over medium temperature. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Stir occasionally to prevent the jam from sticking to the bottom.
4Cook the jam for about 45–60 minutes, or until it thickens and develops a nice dark color. During cooking it will start to thicken and bubble.
5When the jam is ready, pour it into sterilised jars and seal tightly.
6Store the fig jam with orange in a cool, dark place. Enjoy it on bread, toast, pancakes or as an addition to various dishes.
